Palmtree Hygiene recognise this problem and set out to create a hand sanitiser that not only prioritises cleanliness but also takes bold action in respect of sustainability. Our unique formulation is eco-friendly and now, we are advocating for a change in the packaging manufacturing industry, to make it easier for small businesses like ours to procure sustainable packaging options, that align with the 'kind-to-planet' nature of our hero product.

The Need for Sustainable Packaging:

As a small business dedicated to environmental consciousness, we made it our missions to develop a hand sanitiser that minimizes it's carbon footprint. Our product is made from plant-based ingredients and is sourced without any deforestation or reliance on food crops, or land that should be reserved for food. However, we soon realised that while our product was sustainable, the packaging options available in the market did not align with our values and pedigree.

Current product manufacturing practices rely predominantly on single-use plastics, non-recyclable materials, and excessive packaging waste. This unsustainable approach directly contradicts the efforts of small businesses like ours, who strive to make a positive impact on the environment. As a result, it is challenging for us to find packaging solutions that align with our sustainability goals.

Our team are so passionate that they have been self-funding research into natural and renewable packaging materials, not available on the market right now. However, small businesses come with small budgets and we've come to realise that any change we make, will not have the wider impact so desperately needed in the world today.

We firmly believe that sustainable packaging options should be readily accessible to all businesses, regardless of their size. It is time for a transformative change in the packaging manufacturing industry. We call upon packaging manufacturers and suppliers to prioritise sustainability and offer affordable, eco-friendly alternatives that meet the needs of small businesses.

From compostable bio-based plastics, to innovative materials derived from agricultural waste, there are numerous avenues to investigate, which, with the right research and development, could drastically reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
